How I Started … My Love For Handmade Jewelry
When did jewelry designing become part of your life?
I’ve had many different interests in life - healthcare, dentistry, professorship - but the constant has been a passion for all things creative.
My passion for creating jewelry began back in high school! It was an a-ha moment the first day I started a jewelry making class as a freshmen. I was obsessed.
I went on to get my science degrees but never stopped designing, experimenting and creating jewelry for myself, my family and friends.
When did you realize that you wanted to start a jewelry business?
Living in Manhattan, New York during the pandemic shutdown in 2020, I spent months creating pieces to get my mind off the devastations occurring just outside my apartment.
Creating beautiful pieces, sending them to friends and family and receiving pictures of them wearing my creations, gave me the idea and the confidence to start the Daisy and Zarafa jewelry line.
One of the most amazing part of Daisy and Zarafa is the Bespoke experience - having the clients describe what type of piece they want and then creating for them.
It was, and is, an amazing feeling to see that others love the individualized pieces created and handmade by me.
