Margaret Olivia Socum Sage was an American philanthropist known for her contributions to education and progressive causes. Margaret, also known as Olivia, was educated in private schools and graduated in 1847 from the Troy Female Seminary (later named the Emma Willard School) and later married Russell Sage. She inherited close to 70 million dollars.In 1910, she built a new campus for the Emma Willard School as it stands today. She was also the founder Russell Sage Foundation.
